Great info, Laurie! But how hard would it be to not say ANYTHING during your critique? (Well, it would be hard for me, but only because I don't think I CAN go a few minutes without saying anything, critique or no!) ;)
It's incredibly difficult to keep quiet during a critique, but also important. If you find yourself having to explain what you meant, then it's time to go back to the manuscript and write what you meant.
We children's book writers are busy people. If we spend all our time following blogs, message boards, twitters, websites, and the like, we won't have any time to write.
